Title of the presentation: WC-NG: Subversion's new working copy management library
Level: beginners
Date and time: Wednesday, 28th of October, 02:15pm - 03:00 pm
Room: Madrid
Abstract: This talk will discuss WC-NG: the next generation Subversion working copy library. WC-NG is a complete rewrite of the existing working copy metadata management library, with the goal of making the impossible possible, and the difficult easy.
In this talk, I will cover the failings in the current working copy management code, such as scalability, maintainability and design paradigms. I will also present the goals of the new library, the current status of working copy management, and future features this new library makes possible.
Most importantly, this talk will cover the changes users can expect when upgrading working copies to the new format, and how to minimize the impact of these changes on their organizations. In addition, I will also discuss the backward compatibility concerns for users of the new library.
